Berks Master Watershed Stewards Needed for 2019!

Make a resolution to give back in 2019!   Help protect our streams and rivers by becoming a Master Watershed Steward The Penn State Master Watershed Steward Program in Berks County will train a new class of volunteers in the spring of 2019. The program provides 40 hours of water and natural resource training for citizens that have an interest in the environment, a willingness to learn more, and a strong desire to make a difference in the community.  After training, volunteers will engage in projects in Berks County to help protect our streams, rivers and wildlife habitat on an ongoing basis.  Examples of watershed projects and programs include designing and installing demonstration rain gardens or streamside plantings and organizing educational workshops that address such topics as backyard conservation or homeowner stormwater management. The new training program will begin on Monday, March 11, 2019, and will continue on subsequent Mondays from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. through early June. Classes will be held at the Berks County Agricultural Center and at partner environmental organizations throughout Berks County.  The curriculum also features three hands-on Saturday field trips.
