ZooAmerica, located in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, is ending its Falconry Experience program after nearly two decades. The interactive exhibit, which allows visitors to engage closely with hawks, falcons, and a golden eagle, will cease operations on August 31. According to the program's director, Jack Hubley, the decision to terminate the program was made because "traditional falconry and husbandry techniques no longer align with modern zoo standards."
The Falconry Experience has been a popular attraction at ZooAmerica, with nearly 17,000 guests participating over the years. The program offered free-flight demonstrations and allowed guests to experience the thrill of having a bird of prey land on their gloved hand. Despite its popularity, the program will not continue, as confirmed by Hubley on Facebook.
ZooAmerica is part of Hershey Entertainment & Resorts, which has not yet provided further details on the decision to end the program. Those interested in experiencing the Falconry Experience can still book sessions until the end of August.
