BETHLEHEM, Pa. - According to reports, a California woman has some serious beef with a Bethlehem-based candy maker.
TMZ reports that the woman has filed a lawsuit against Just Born Inc. because she believes the candy company is ripping off customers who purchase Mike and Ike's and Hot Tamales.
She alleges the $4 boxes of candy she purchased at a movie theatre were filled with "46% air."
The woman claims she was fooled by the box and wouldn't have forked over the cash for the box of sugar if she knew it wasn't filled.
Fox News says the woman also claims that because the theatre stores the candy in a glass case, she wasn't able to feel it out for weight or volume.
In a statement, Matt Pye, Vice President at Just Born Quality Confections, said “These are baseless allegations and we intend to vigorously defend ourselves. Our products and labels comply with all FDA regulations and provide consumers with the information they need to make informed purchase decisions.”
