A Wisconsin clothing designer went viral after turning a grieving man's late mother's clothes into something he can wear every day. Twenty-five-year-old Mason Wagner, who runs a small design company called GoodNatured, was approached by a man named Eric whose mother had recently passed away. Eric had a collection of her clothing he couldn't bear to part with and wanted to find a way to keep her close. Mason, after consulting his grandmother, a lifelong quilter, came up with the idea of piecing her garments together as the hidden lining of a jacket.
It took about 10 hours to work out how to make fabrics of different weights and textures lie flat. The jacket's exterior was chosen in a color evoking water, to reflect Eric's mom's love of the ocean. Eric now wears it regularly. He told Mason: "It feels like I have her close to me," and added that one commenter captured it perfectly when they said, "Her clothing is on the inside so it's like she's giving me a hug."
