A man and his dog helped save two lives from a house fire in Cleveland after spotting flames while driving through the area. Richard Keith Taylor, his wife Melanie, and their dog Ace were traveling through the Mount Pleasant neighborhood last week when they noticed a home on fire. He quickly parked, honked his horn to alert others, then went inside the smoke-filled home and carried an elderly woman to safety as flames spread.
After firefighters from the Cleveland Division of Fire arrived and started battling the blaze, Ace became agitated and pulled Taylor toward a boarded-up basement window. He told firefighters the dog seemed to smell something inside the basement. Firefighters checked the area and discovered a small brown dog hiding there, frightened but unharmed.
The fire department later shared the rescue on social media, praising Taylor and Ace for being “in the right place at the right time.” Both the elderly woman and her dog were safely rescued from the home. Taylor says he’s just glad he could help.
