Firefighters in Overland Park, Kansas, responded to a medical emergency Tuesday morning when a man suffered cardiac arrest while shoveling snow from his driveway. Crews from the Overland Park Fire Department, Lenexa Fire Department, and Johnson County Med-Act arrived to provide life-saving treatment and transported the man to a nearby hospital for further care.
After making sure the man was on his way to receive medical attention, the firefighters stayed behind to finish clearing his driveway of heavy snow. This thoughtful gesture was shared on social media by the Overland Park Fire Department.
In the wake of the incident,officials are reminding the public that shoveling snow can be physically demanding, especially in frigid winter weather, which can be hazardous for individuals with heart conditions. While the man’s condition is unknown, the incident serves as a reminder of the risks of strenuous winter chores and the importance of putting safety first.
