Beloved Walgreens pharmacist Bob Hesselberg of Weston, Massachusetts, recently received a surprise $6-thousand gift organized by 11-year-old Aarav Khanna and the community. Known affectionately as "Pharmacist Bob," Hesselberg has worked at the Boston Post Road location for over 30 years and was celebrated by customers and community members before the store’s closure. Khanna, who would often visit the store after being dropped off nearby by his school bus, raised the funds from the community as a show of appreciation for Hesselberg's kindness and dedication.
During the heartfelt event where Hesselberg was presented with the gift, he expressed his surprise and gratitude, calling the gesture “humbling” and “amazing.” He shared that at 75 years old he has no plans to retire. He says he’s still passionate about his work and he appreciates the connections he’s built with the community.
Local resident Carol Ott, who attended the gathering, praised the pharmacist’s genuine care for his customers, shown through his habit of greeting customers by name and asking about their well-being. Hesselberg was deeply moved by the outpouring of support and says he’ll miss everyone and is grateful for their kindness.
