To celebrate Ryan Reynolds’ 48th birthday earlier this week, his friend Rob McElhenney partnered with Best Friends Animal Society for a unique gift. McElhenney announced that all the animals up for adoption through Best Friends had been renamed after Reynolds as a fun tribute. Dozens of pets, including dogs, cats, horses, and even a donkey, all named "Ryan Reynolds," are available for adoption at locations in New York, Arkansas, California, Texas, and Utah.
McElhenney says that adopting a pet named after Reynolds was a way for fans to show love for the actor, and he joked that anyone attempting to give Reynolds unconditional love in person might face legal trouble, so adopting a pet would be a safer bet. The “It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia” actor also pledged to match all donations to Best Friends Animal Society up to $25-thousand through the end of October.
Best Friends Animal Society’s mission is to end the killing of shelter animals by 2025, and they’re encouraging fans to adopt the newly renamed animals and share their experiences using the hashtag #AdoptARyan. As of Wednesday afternoon, the organization says that three "Ryan Reynolds" had already been adopted, but there’s still plenty of Ryans to go around.
