Cressalyn “Cressa” Lundeen, a seven-year-old Girl Scout from the town of California, Missouri, was recently honored with the prestigious Girl Scout Medal of Honor for saving her baby brother Teddy’s life earlier this year. During a recent ceremony at the Missouri State Capitol Building, Cressa was recognized for her heroic actions when she found her brother having a seizure. By staying calm, immediately rolling him onto his side, rubbing his chest, and quickly getting help, she likely saved his life.
Cressa’s heroic response was the result of first aid and emergency training she received as a Girl Scout. She knows how to handle situations like seizures and fires and is also prepared with important emergency information. Her actions led to Teddy being rushed to the hospital, where he made a full recovery.
The Girl Scout Medal of Honor is awarded to Girl Scouts who save or attempt to save a life without putting themselves at risk. Cressa’s bravery and maturity are a direct reflection of the values she’s learned as a Girl Scout. She’s happy that her little brother survived the incident and that she has the skills to help him and others in an emergency.
