Elisa Ynafante Ferreira was born without a hand and during a recent surprise trip to Disney World, the now nine-year-old received a special Princess Tiana bionic arm. Elisa was thrilled with her new Disney Princess-themed sleeve for her arm and for getting to visit Disney World. The trip was organized by Open Bionics, a company specializing in bionic limbs, which collaborated with Disney to create the magical experience.
Elisa's mother, Nathalie Ferreira, shared the emotional journey of discovering Elisa's condition during pregnancy and the challenges her daughter has faced growing up. Despite learning to cope with only having one hand, Elisa still struggled with tasks like riding a bike. Nathalie contacted Open Bionics when Elisa was six, but they had to wait until she was older to receive the bionic arm.
During their recent Disney trip, Elisa not only received her new Princess Tiana arm but also got to meet her favorite Disney Princess and ride the new Tiana's Bayou Adventure attraction. Open Bionics clinician Emily Shannon expressed joy in being part of these special moments, saying that it’s their mission to empower children with limb differences.
