Last week, New Hampshire teen Brady Procon sprang into action to stop a runaway boat on Lake Winnipesaukee after its operator was knocked overboard. The incident occurred when the mast of a sailing student’s boat hit the throttle of the sailing instructor’s boat. The instructor was tossed from the boat and the unmanned vessel then began speeding in circles in Smith's Cove, prompting Procon's father to alert his 17-year-old son.
The teen quickly responded by jumping onto a neighbor's jet ski to approach the runaway boat. Without hesitation, he leaped onto the out-of-control boat, successfully bringing it to a stop. Looking back on the experience, Procon says that while it was a bit scary, he found the situation thrilling and wouldn't hesitate to do it again.
Video of his courageous act has garnered widespread attention, showing the teen’s quick thinking and bravery. Fortunately, in large part thanks to the teen’s actions, no injuries were reported from the incident.
