Daily Do Good: Baltimore Man Delivers Leftover Food To Those In Need

About six months ago, Baltimore resident Omar Tarabishi founded Leftover Love, a nonprofit organization dedicated to rescuing leftover food destined to be thrown out and delivering it to those in need. Since its inception, Tarabishi has been collecting leftover bagels and other baked goods from local shops every day, with the mission of addressing both hunger and food waste in the community.

The inspiration for Leftover Love struck Tarabishi three years ago during a visit to a Cubs game in Chicago, where he was shocked to see a large amount of leftover food being discarded. This experience stayed with him, leading him to quit his job in January and fully commit to his mission. The organization focuses on collecting easily consumable items like bagels and pastries, ensuring they reach those in need.

Tarabishi's efforts are supported by local businesses like THB, a bagel shop chain where managers like Mike Pepperman appreciate the initiative. Inspired by his immigrant parents’ generosity, Tarabishi views giving back as a natural part of community life. Leftover Love currently has a fundraising drive underway to support its operations and is seeking more volunteers and business partners to expand its reach.
