A bus carrying University of South Carolina students crashed in Mississippi, injuring 11 people including students and the driver. The accident happened on Interstate 10 while the students were on their way to a fraternity formal in New Orleans. The driver lost control of the bus after a tire blew out, causing it to lean to one side. When the bus came back down on all the wheels, the driver was ejected through the windshield.
During the chaos as the bus careened down the highway, one brave student onboard quickly took control and brought the bus to a stop, very likely saving lives. Both the driver and students were transported to local hospitals for treatment. Fortunately, there were no fatalities from the incident, thanks to the actions of the driver and the student.
In a statement, the University of South Carolina expressed its concern and support for the students involved in the accident, working closely with local authorities for updates and assistance. The crash is under investigation by the state highway patrol.
