A group of teenagers from San Antonio, Texas, led by Teens Give Back SATX, is making a positive impact on the city's homeless community by turning plastic bags into sleeping mats. Recognizing the importance of having a comfortable place to rest, the teens started the project to provide essential support to those in need.
Creating these sleeping mats is no small feat; it involves weaving hundreds of plastic bags together, with each mat taking around 15 to 20 hours to complete. Despite the labor-intensive process, the teenagers are dedicated to their cause, driven by their compassion and desire to help their community.
The initiative has garnered attention and support from the community, with some pointing out that the mats could be lifesaving when it’s extremely cold out. So far, the teens have produced approximately 50 mats, proving their commitment to making a difference in the lives of San Antonio's homeless population.
