A brave mother from Queens, Adriana Alvarez, took swift action when a man attempted to kidnap her teenage daughter from their Astoria, New York, apartment building. Surveillance footage captured the intense moment as she chased down the suspect, who had allegedly been fixated on her 18-year-old daughter, Lex.
In a harrowing struggle in their apartment’s stairwell, Alvarez fiercely fought against the much larger assailant, sustaining serious injuries including a dislocated shoulder and fractured orbital socket. Despite the assailant's use of pepper spray and overwhelming physical force, the brave mom persisted in defending her daughter, eventually breaking free and getting help from neighbors.
The alleged kidnapper, who’s now facing multiple charges including attempted kidnapping and assault, had reportedly planned the abduction in advance, as evidenced by items found in his car. But Alvarez isn’t leaving it all up to the police and has since taken proactive measures to warn the community about the assailant’s dangerous behavior by distributing flyers. Following the incident she had to be treated in the hospital and a family member has since started a crowdfund to help her recover which has raised over $20-thousand.
