"Hannibal Lecter Facials" Latest Spa Trend

Want glowing skin, Clarice? A spa treatment called the “Galvanic Facial,” nicknamed the “Hannibal Lecter facial,” is gaining notoriety for sending electrical currents through a full-coverage beige face mask. The treatment promises to firm up skin, decrease acne, and offer better circulation…for $180 per session.

However, some doctors say that since this mask isn’t “well-studied” or “well-regulated,” it could pose a burn threat and even cause scarring. Experts also warn that people with pacemakers or any metal in the body should avoid these treatments. Meanwhile, docs also say that your “to die for” results are likely only temporary.
