Just before Thanksgiving, Nova, a dog that had been missing for two months, was rescued from the Colorado wilderness. The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office reports that two hikers found the pup injured and scared at Meyer Ranch Park near Aspen, leading to her rescue.
Despite Nova biting one of the hikers, they recognized that she was in need of help and contacted the authorities. Jefferson County rangers and animal control officers initiated a rescue operation to bring her down the mountain. Pictures shared on social media show Nova wearing a muzzle, wrapped in a blanket, and being carefully carried by her rescuers.
She was soon reunited with her grateful owner, who had been missing her for two months. Her owner says Nova sustained a broken leg during the ordeal, but is safely back home now. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office shared the good news story to highlight the kindness and community spirit shown towards a lost pet, especially meaningful at Thanksgiving.
