In November of last year, when Altovise Morris, a 41-year-old Florida woman, won $1-million from a 500X The Cash scratch-off lottery game. At that time, she joked with lotto officials, “I’ll be back!” But no one could have imagined it would be so soon and for an equally astounding amount.
Last month, just after closing on a new house she bought with her winnings, Morris purchased another $1-million winning ticket. True to her word, Morris returned to Florida Lottery headquarters this week to get her second $1-million prize in less than eight months, saying, "I still can't believe this is happening."
Morris opted for lump-sum payments both times, with her total winnings reaching more than $1.6-million before taxes. The odds of her repeat performance? A staggering 1-in-71.6 billion! It seems Morris turned out to be not only incredibly lucky but also rather prophetic.
