A woman named Linda, who’d been homeless for 28 years, has been reunited with her family in Wisconsin just in time for Mother’s Day. Struggling with addiction and chronic illness, Linda was living unsheltered in Miami when she met Gabby, a worker from Miracle Messages, a nonprofit that helps reunite homeless people with their loved ones.
Linda shared her dream of reconnecting with her family, and Gabby explained how Miracle Messages could help her reunite with them. A volunteer Internet sleuth tracked down Linda's mother, Darlene, who immediately expressed a desire to reconnect with her daughter. Soon Linda's adult children, Evelynn and Marcos, who hadn't heard from their mom in over two years, were on their way to Miami to bring Linda home.
Linda agreed to return with them and shortly after arriving in Wisconsin, she enrolled in a treatment program. Gabby was later invited to a family reunion and Linda got a chance to thank her for her help. Linda's sister, Angie, says that her return has brought the family back together, “I feel like we are whole again.”
- The reunion was captured in an emotional YouTube video by Miracle Messages.
