On March 21st, 75-year-old Darlene Peck left her home in Umatilla, Florida, just north of Orlando, headed an hour away to Ocala. When her husband got home from work more than 10 hours later, she still hadn't returned home, so he contacted the Marion County Sheriff’s Office to report her as missing.
The next day, Peck’s SUV was spotted more than 250 miles away in Coral Gables, west of Miami. A Silver Alert was issued for Peck, who suffers from dementia, but was formerly a truck driver and is having trouble adjusting to not being on the road.
On Friday, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office updated their original post on social media to announce that Peck had been found safe. Python hunters in the Everglades National Park located her more than 300 miles from her home in an area west of Homestead. The Sheriff’s Office says Peck is “in good health” and that she’s now been “reunited with her family.”
