Penn State’s THON Raises Over $15 Million To Fight Pediatric Cancer

Pennsylvania State University’s THON dance marathon raises millions to fight pediatric cancer. We’ve told you before about the astronomical amounts of money that Penn State students have managed to raise to help fight childhood cancer with their annual dance marathon. Well, they’re back for the 51st year of THON and this year they’ve raised over $15-million to help support children and families impacted by childhood cancer.

THON is the largest student-run philanthropy effort ever and more than 16-thousand students volunteer their time to the fundraising effort that culminates in their annual 46-hour dance marathon. The event took place this past weekend at the university’s Bryce Jordan Center with more than 700 dancers participating.

Since its inception in the early 70s, THON has raised more than $200-million for the Four Diamonds Fund, a charity devoted to pediatric cancer research and treatment at the Penn State Hershey Medical Center Children's Hospital.

  • THON is more than just a once-a-year event, they’re working year-round and take donation at Donate.THON.org
