A Florida man wins $1-million on a lotto scratch-off after someone cuts in front of him in line. When a person cut in front of Stephen Munoz Espinoza while he was waiting to use a lottery ticket machine, it ended up being a stroke of fortune. “It was the end of a long day, and I was tired,” the Delray Beach man recalls. “I stopped at Publix and was about to buy a ticket at the machine when a man cut right in front of me. Instead of saying something, I decided I'd just buy a ticket at the counter instead.”
The 43-year-old picked up a $50 500X THE CASH scratch-off card and after playing it, realized that he’d won $1-million. The chances of winning $1-million on the 500X THE CASH game are about 1-in-267-thousand. “I can't believe I won a million dollars!," he says.
Last week, Munoz Espinoza traveled to Florida lotto headquarters in Tallahassee to pick up his winnings. He chose to take the one-time lump-sum of $820-thousand. He says that he and his wife plan to purchase a home for their family with the money.
