Gas station/convenience chain store Sheetz says it’s reviewing the policy in place against hiring people with dental problems. In the employee handbook, the company has a policy that states that “applicants with obvious missing, broken, or badly discolored teeth (unrelated to a disability) are not qualified for employment with Sheetz.”
Several former employees have said they think the “smile policy,” as some refer to it, is classist and “kind of disgusting.” After Business Insider heard about the policy and requested a copy, Sheetz said that they were doing “a more specific review to ensure our policies are aligned with Sheetz’s commitment to foster a culture of respect.”
