DDG: Dog Missing Years Reunites With Family Hundreds Of Miles Away

A Tennessee family is reunited with their dog after she went missing two years ago. Officials in Ocean County, New Jersey, recently rescued 180 dogs and cats from an alleged puppy mill. Among the rescued pets was Daisy the bloodhound, but unlike most of the rescues, Daisy had a microchip.

Ocean County Health Department spokesman Brian Lippai was tasked with contacting the pup’s owner and was soon on the phone with Tyler Price. Daisy had gone missing from Price’s Tennessee home two years ago and the family had missed her. “They were ecstatic when they got the phone call,” Lippai says. “Just to know their dog was safe, and being well taken care of.”

Price and his family drove 11 hours from Tennessee to New Jersey to be reunited with their dog. Despite being apart for two years, Daisy was as happy to see them as the Prices were to see her. “There were lots of smiles, tears and happiness coming from both sides,” Lippai says.

  • The story is another reminder to have your pets microchipped. It’s an inexpensive and simple procedure that can make it a lot easier to get your pet back if they’re lost or stolen.
