A 12-year-old artist in Iowa is using his art to help fight childhood cancer. Arsh Pal of Dubuque, Iowa, started painting four years ago at eight years old. Soon afterward, he set a goal to use his art to raise $1-thousand for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. “Everybody kind of doubted me because I was so young, but when I did raise $1,000 everybody was surprised," Arsh says.
Since then, the tween has gone on to raise more than $15-thousand for St. Jude and other charities and earlier this year, he was recognized for his charitable work with the prestigious Diana Award, named in honor of the late Princess Diana.
Next on the young philanthropist’s to-do list is giving free art lessons to kids who are struggling with anxiety or other problems. When asked why he does so much to help other people, Arsh says, "It just makes me smile, and the other people happy."
