A café in the U.K. is rewarding customers for simply being nice. Chai Stop in Preston is now offering “sliding prices” for polite customers.
They have a sign explaining their new pricing tiers, showing it pays to be kind:
- Customers who ask for their tea by saying, “Hello, Desi Chai please,” will pay $2.12 for the drink.
- Those who order, “Desi Chai, please,” will be charged $3.35 for their tea.
- And folks who just say, “Desi Chai” will be paying $5.59 for the same order.
Chai Stop owner Usman Hussain says the inspiration came from a café he saw on Facebook years ago and he hopes it will promote “good vibes only” in his business. He says, “We’ve never struggled with rude customers, but since having the sign, people are definitely coming in more open and having a laugh with us.” He shares that he hasn’t had to shock a customer with the full $5.59 price yet because he gives them a warning first. “If a customer doesn't use their manners I point to the sign, and they immediately ask again more politely,” Hussain explains.
