Officials in Tasmania are trying to figure out what to do after some 230 whales beached themselves. Marine conservation experts are in the area called Hell’s Gate and now say all but 35 of the mammals have died due to the pounding surf. The surviving pilot whales will be rescued this morning. This happened two years to the day that over 400 pilot whales were beached in the same area. Of those, 111 survived.
