Boston police come to the rescue of a groom, helping him make it to his wedding on time. Patrick and Hannah Mahoney, of Quincy, Massachusetts, were set for a Saturday wedding on Thompson Island in Boston Harbor. Hannah and her bridesmaids were already on the island and Patrick was going to take the ferry over, but the boat broke down.
So the groom, all of the groomsmen, the wedding DJ, and the florist with all the flowers were stranded at the dock and the replacement ferry was running 40 minutes late. "I was in a little bit of a panic," Patrick says. But then the Boston Police showed up to save the day.
Officers Joseph Matthews and Stefani McGrath took all the men from the dock and delivered them and the flowers on a police boat to Thompson Island and they made it to the ceremony with six minutes to spare. Patrick was grateful for the ride to his wedding, but says that even if the BPD hadn’t shown up, nothing would have stopped him from getting married that day. "We would've waited for low tide at 6 p.m. and probably walked," the newlywed says.
