Daily Do Good: Text To Wrong Number Leads To Act Of Kindness From Stranger

A California couple is surprised by an act of kindness from a stranger who they mistakenly texted. Prior to David Amastae and Candace Countryman having their daughter, Luna, they planned a baby shower and sent out evites via text. But they got one number mixed up and accidentally texted an invitation to Angela White in Camby, Indiana.

Angela knew the text wasn’t meant for her, but she was convinced that the text was far from random. “I don’t know why, but there was a reason why I got that text and evite to that shower,” she says. So she decided she would hand-craft the couple a blanket like the ones she sells through her small business, Brave Blanket Company. She mailed David and Candace the blanket and included a note explaining that she’d received the text in error and why she felt the need to send a gift anyway.

The couple was blown away by the kind gesture from a woman thousands of miles away that they’d never met. Candace says her mom put it best. “She was just like ‘Oh my gosh, Luna is so blessed.’ My mom never talks like that.” Angela has four children of her own and says that they’ve received acts of kindness from strangers over the years. She says it’s heartwarming being on the giving side of that same type of kindness.
