The city of Aurora, Illinois is dealing with the important things. The Aurora City Council has passed a law that states residents are allowed to have four “companion” animals, defined as “a dog, cat, ferret, rabbit, guinea pig, hamster, or other similar domestic animal commonly kept as pets,” and put penalties in place if they make too much noise. The owner of animals that are making “excessive noise” for more than 15 minutes at a time between the hours of 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. could get a $100 ticket; the limit is 10 minutes between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m. No details were given on how excessive the noise from a rabbit, guinea pig, or hamster could be.
