A hairstylist in Illinois tells her client about a discolored area on her scalp that ends up being cancer. Hairdresser Sharon Lupo was working on one of her regular customers, Mary Rahilly, when she noticed a spot on Rahilly’s scalp. She told her about the unusual mark and suggested she see a dermatologist right away.
Rahilly made a rush appointment with her doctor, who could tell immediately that it was a form of cancer. A biopsy confirmed that the mark was a squamous cell carcinoma and Rahilly was able to get it removed before it spread.
Thankful that her stylist was paying attention, Rahilly is calling Lupo her hero. "She knows I'm grateful and that, you know, she's an awesome person." Rahilly says.
