Daily Do Good: Dog Leads Police To Crash To Help Save Injured Owner

State police in New Hampshire say a dog led them to a severe car crash, likely saving the life of its owner and the vehicle's other passenger. On Monday evening New Hampshire State Troopers responded to a call about a large dog loose on Interstate 89 near the Vermont border.

When troopers arrived they saw a German Shepherd on the highway near West Lebanon. When they tried to get close to the dog, it would run a little ways up the road and then turn back toward them. They followed the dog like this for a few minutes, following it over the border into Vermont until it led them to a section of damaged guardrail. It was there that the troopers discovered an overturned truck with two passengers ejected from the vehicle. The two men were badly injured and hypothermic, so troopers called for medical assistance and they were taken to a local hospital for treatment.

The troopers later learned that the dog’s name was Tinsley and he belongs to the driver of the crashed truck, Cam Laundry. EMT’s credit Tinsley with saving the lives of the two men, who would not have survived the night in the freezing cold. “She’s my little guardian angel you know,” Laundry says. “It’s a miracle that she had that kind of intelligence to do what she did.” Laundry plans to reward Tinsley for her heroism. "She'll get some venison, probably a burger tonight and probably some back scratches with it," he says.
