Let's just start by saying "EW."
A hospital in Japan has accidentally been using toilet water as their drinking water for THIRTY YEARS and no one realized it until now. So how the heck did this happen? Well it was announced that some of the tap water pipes in specific areas of Osaka University were set up incorrectly and connected to the restroom. There were 120 taps listed as faulty and were used by employees and patients to drink, wash and gargle.
The issue was finally discovered during an inspection of the hospital, which is preparing to build a new diagnosis and treatment center.
The good news is that the hospital checks the water weekly (color, taste and smell) and there hasn't been an issue since 2014. The University claim that there was no health hazards found throughout the investigation.
But still... toilet water.
