U.S. Navy veteran Kenny Jary was heartbroken when his mobility scooter broke down, as it was his only way to get out and about in his Minnesota community. The 79-year-old’s neighbor, Amanda, posted a TikTok video about his situation and people wanted to help.
So Amanda launched a GoFundMe campaign to buy Kenny a new scooter and it was a huge success. Donations poured in and more than $110-thousand was raised. The act of kindness wasn’t just helpful, it moved him to tears and Kenny calls it “the nicest gift I ever had in my whole life.”
But there was still a lot of money left over from the fundraiser, so Kenny is paying it forward. He’s buying scooters for other veterans in need and has invited people to nominate vets that could use one. “You’ve seen how happy Kenny’s new scooter made him,” Amanda shares onGoFundMe. “We want to be able to put that type of smile on the faces of even more of those who have served our country with such dedication and honor.”
