Daily Do Good: Teen Uses Trampoline To Help Residents Escape Building Fire

A Pittsburgh teen uses a trampoline to help his neighbors escape when their apartment building goes up in flames. When 17-year-old Falon O'Regan noticed that his apartment building where he lives in Bentleyville, Pennsylvania, was on fire, he came up with an ingenious way to help his neighbors escape. He and his downstairs neighbor, Robert, moved a nearby trampoline over to the apartment so residents trapped on the third floor of the building could jump to safety.

Falon says some of his neighbors first tossed their dogs down to the trampoline and a few were hesitant to make the leap. One person did hurt their leg during jumping, but given that the building partially collapsed from the fire, it was still the safer move.

Several residents had to be taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation and officials say that 18 people in all were displaced by the fire. But the outcome could have been much worse without this quick-thinking teen’s help.
