A retired NASCAR driver helps to save victims of a fiery car crash. On his way home from a race in Pennsylvania, retired NASCAR driver Kasey Kahne assisted in the rescue efforts following a head-on collision near Harrisburg. Kahne, fellow racer James McFadden and others rushed to help the victims of the wreck.
Both vehicles erupted in flames after the collision late Saturday night. The wreck occurred when a man driving the wrong way on the highway ran head-on into a truck pulling a camper. Kahne used a fire extinguisher from his tour bus to try and put out the fire while other good Samaritans worked to get the passengers away from the wreckage. All three victims were taken to a local hospital, though only the passenger from the truck survived.
While Kahne was getting attention from news organizations for his rescue efforts following the accident, he took the opportunity to recognize the other people who risked their safety to help. "There was a tragic car accident on our way home from the races Saturday night,” Kahne tweeted Wednesday. “I just wanted to recognize all of the people who jumped in to help as quick as they possibly could until first responders arrived. My thoughts and prayers are with the families involved."
