Simone Biles and US Women’s Gymnastics to Avoid Olympic Village

Simone Biles may be turning flips in Tokyo but, she will not be turning up in the Olympic Village. Yesterday the US Women’s Gymnastics Team announced they are opting not to reside in Tokyo’s Olympic Village during the upcoming games.

Biles, Jordan Chiles, and the rest of the squad intend to stay at a hotel near the venue instead. “It was also a decision that we all made together,” coach Cecile Landi said. “We know it isn’t ideal during a pandemic. We feel like we can control the athletes and our safety better in a hotel setting!”

The team’s decision came a day before an alternate member of the team would end up testing positive for COVID. But, it also came on a day when Tokyo reported over 1,300 new COVID cases.

So, USA Gymnastics decision is definitely a prudent one. The 109-acre Olympic Village, yeah,it’s gonna be housing 11,000 athletes. And look, they can take all the precautions they want but, with 11,000 people, you knowyou gonna have people in line at breakfast with their masks under their noses, and everything. I don’t want anything jeopardizing my girl Simone winning her second all-around gold.Let my girl get room service!
