A couple in St. Petersburg, Florida, are celebrating their 25 years together by giving back to their community. Trevor Burgess and Gary Hess first met during Pride Month and to mark their silver anniversary, they’re donating to groups and causes that have supported them over the years.
“We've built, together, two successful businesses in St. Petersburg and we decided we wanted to give back to our community,” Burgess explains. “So we picked 10 organizations, many that we have worked with before and some that are in special need right now, and decided that we would make 10 $25,000 gifts.”
The group of grateful recipients includes museums, clinics and LGBTQ organizations. The couple hopes their story encourages others to contribute to causes they care about who may be struggling right now. “Pick the organization that really speaks to you,” Burgess says. “And giving as little as $5 a month or a one-time gift can make a big difference for that institution over time.”
