A Pennsylvania teenager who was paralyzed during a football game three years ago wowed the crowd at his high school graduation by getting back on his feet. Hayden Hamilton suffered a spinal injury while attempting to make a tackle, which left him paralyzed from the neck down. But this week, he was able to take steps once again.
With the help of leg braces, a walker and his therapist by his side, Hamilton walked across the football field to receive his diploma at Laurel High School’s graduation. He defied the odds and overcame what doctors told him, enduring operations and intense rehabilitation to reach this goal of standing up from his wheelchair to walk on that field. And the crowd went wild!
Hamilton’s walk was met with a standing ovation and he said he just wanted to be able to walk off that field again because he never got to do it the night he was injured. After reaching that goal, he said, “That felt better than any touchdown I ever scored.”
