A woman in labor didn’t make it to the hospital in time to have her baby, but an Indiana State Trooper was there to help deliver him. Trooper Thomas Maymi was working his shift on a toll road when a male driver stopped his semi-truck and started running toward him. It turns out, his wife was having her baby and they needed help.
Trooper Maymi called for an ambulance and headed to dad-to-be Carl Robertson’s truck, where his wife, Shaniqua Traywick, was having contractions. It was clear to Maymi that they didn’t have time to make it to the hospital, so he helped her until EMS arrived. Just two minutes later, the baby boy was born.
The parents are so grateful for the trooper’s help that they named their son after him. The newborn is named Malaki Thomas Robertson, with his middle name in honor of Maymi’s first name. Mom and baby were taken to the hospital and are both doing well and Maymi says he was just “glad to be in the right place at the right time.”
