DDG: 15-Year-Old Will Get High School Diploma & College Degree Same Week

It’s a huge week for graduations for Tom Jordan! The 15-year-old is receiving both his high school diploma and his two-year college degree just five days apart. He earned an associates degree in general science from Stark State College in North Canton, Ohio, with a 3.93 GPA. He’s also the youngest student in their 60-year history.

And the teen is also finishing up his career at GlenOak High School, where he graduates with a GPA of 4.625. Tom started at Stark State with a pre-algebra course when he was 11 and by the time he was 14, he was enrolled full-time at the college. He’s planning to go to the College of Wooster to finish his undergraduate degree in math and hopes to be a math professor one day, after getting his doctorate at Harvard or M.I.T.

The double grad has some solid advice for students about finding a balance between studying and having fun. “A lot of people have the brains and the thought process, but they don’t have the organization and work ethic,” he explains. “If you can improve on those things, it can really make a difference.”
