A woman in North Texas found help on the Internet when she was trying to find a place for her ER doctor husband to stay nearby without exposing his family to the coronavirus. Emily Phillips found someone willing to let her husband use their RV and it inspired her to try to connect other volunteers with campers to medical professionals in the same situation.
Phillis started a Facebook group called “RVs for MDs” which she runs with over 100 volunteers. It has more than 22-thousand online members and has made 345 matches so far, with hundreds more pending.
ICU nurse Yhaneek Douglas-Mattis used RVs for MDs to find a camper to put in her backyard so she can be a safe distance from her husband and three young children and she’s extremely grateful. “Whether it's kindness that connects us, or love that connects us… we will come out of this entire situation much better,” she said.
