Anonymous Woman Buys Child’s Cake In Honor Of Late Son’s Birthday

Here’s a story that’s bound to make you run home and hug your kids.

Texas mother-of-two Holly Grimet shared on Facebook this weekend that when she went to pick up the birthday cake and cupcakes she ordered for her kid’s birthday, she found out it had already been paid by an anonymous woman. Staffers at the supermarket told her that the woman had left a note, but warned her that it would probably leave her crying, and it certainly did.

It turns out the woman who paid for the cakes did it in honor of her late son. Nehemiah, who would have been turning eight that very day. “I want to remember my son by doing good to others. I hope you enjoy your child’s cake and I hope your day is special,” the note read. “Hold your baby a little tighter today, watch them as they play, be patient with them, kiss their sweet little hand and tell them how much you love them.” The note added, “Our children are such beautiful gifts! I hope your day is beautiful. Much love from me and my angel in heaven to your family.”

Holly says the note certainly touched her and helped her gain a “new perspective” since she initially didn’t even want to throw a party for her kid. She notes, “I reluctantly gave in and threw a last-minute party, and I was given a life lesson."

  • Grimet says she shared the note on social media in the hopes of identifying the anonymous mom. "I just want to hug Nehemiah's mom, who still has remained a mystery," she said. "I'm just thankful I still have my little girl Eva to hug a little longer tonight in honor of Nehemiah and his mom."
