Daily Do Good: Teen 3D Prints 25 Prosthetic Hands For Kids, Wins Award

After learning about 3D printing from his mentor in the 4H Club, a Utah teen has been perfecting his skills to help others. Joseph Huff watched the process of a 3D hand being printed and wanted to learn how to do the same thing for other kids in need of prosthetic hands.

So the 16-year-old went on a tour of Shriners Hospital to see what was needed and collected his materials and got to work. In all, Huff has now built 25 prosthetic hands for kids with help from his 4H team and his mentors. His hard work was recognized with a national award and a $5-thousand scholarship.

Now this young creator hopes to make a design for his dad, who had a stroke when he was 25 and hasn’t been able to use his right hand since.
