Vermont State Bill Would Ban Cell Phone Use For Those Under 21

The argument of how young is too young for a cellphone may not exist in Vermont if a new law passes.

It would ban anyone under the age of 21 from using a cellphone with punishment being a year in jail and a fine. A Democratic senator introduced the controversial bill this week and says it's more to make a point.

He cites deadly crashes and bullying as the reasons why, saying it's clear those under 21 aren't developmentally mature enough to have a phone. While no state regulates what age you should be to use a cell phone, 38 states do ban teens from using cell phones while behind the wheel of a car.
