Daily Do Good: Tween Donates A Million Meals To Food Bank

A Texas tween has been raising money for a local food bank for five years and he’s donated enough to provide one-million meals so far. Mace Massingill, 12, started collecting donations way back when he was seven after visiting the Central Texas Food Bank with his mom to drop off food.

His mother, Holly Mace Massingill, says that trip “lit a fire in him” because it clicked with him that some people literally don’t have food in their kitchens, so he decided to help. That year, he set a goal to raise enough money for 1,000 meals and shattered it by raising enough for more than 5,000. Every year since then, he’s increased his goal and his 2019 haul brought his total to 1,132,424 meals.

"He truly believes that kids can end hunger if they all work together," his mom says. "It's really powerful to see."

Mace has his own website through the Central Texas Food Bank where people can donate money to help buy meals.
