A college student in Iowa was driving to class when he lost control of his Jeep while driving over an icy bridge and he crashed into the Winnebago River below. Gael Salcedo tried to find his phone to call for help, but couldn’t find it.
The 18-year-old yelled out, “Hey Siri, call 911,” and his iPhone’s voice assistant saved the day, calling for help. Firefighters responded and helped Salcedo get out of a window and swim through the freezing water to the riverbank. He was treated for shock at a local hospital and discharged after a few hours.
