DDG: Colleges Give Free Tuition To Kids Of Firefighter Who Died Saving Crew

Several colleges in Massachusetts are honoring firefighter Lieutenant Jason Menard, who died last week during a massive house fire. They’re offering to pay tuition for his three young children in the future.

Menard helped save two young crew members, even throwing one from a window, but he died while searching the home for a baby, according to the Worcester Fire Department. Now the community he was trying to protect is helping to support his wife and their three kids, with nine colleges pledging to pay their tuition if they’re accepted to the schools.

Anna Maria College, Clark University, the College of the Holy Cross, and Worcester State University are among the schools that have offered a full undergraduate tuition waiver if Menard’s children are accepted there.
