Daily Do Good: Pro Golfer Wins Hearts After Tournament Loss

Brandon Matthews desperately needed to make a putt in the Argentine Open, after he and Ricardo Celia finished in a tie, forcing them to play extra holes. But the pro golfer was distracted during his backswing when a fan yelled and he missed the putt.

He admits he was frustrated and he turned around and said “Come on guys, seriously?!” because he assumed the fan did it on purpose. But when a PGA tour official told him the fan has Down syndrome and had just gotten excited, he wanted to meet him. Matthews spoke to the fan, gave him a signed golf ball and glove, and a hug.

“I felt so terrible that I was even upset. I just wanted to make sure that he didn’t feel bad about what happened,” the golfer explains. “I wanted to make sure he knew that I wasn’t mad. There are some things in life that are just bigger than golf. And this was one of them.”
