Community members and Fishers Police are mourning the loss of their fellow K-9 Officer Harlej who was shot and killed in the line of duty Wednesday morning. According to police, officers attempted to stop Richard D. Garrett Junior, who they suspected of driving drunk. Garrett fled, eventually stopping at Olio Road and 136th Street, where he got out of the car and ran. At some point during a foot pursuit, police say Garrett shot and killed Harlej. He's now facing 10 charges including assault on an officer.
